
Every year, thousands of women, and some men, as well, are diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Marta Quijano, a breast surgeon with Mercy's Breast Health Resource Center, offers some of the risk factors for breast cancer.

The chances are that you may never actually participate in a clinical trial. Each year, clinical trial participants only number in the thousands, but ultimately millions can benefit from the findings of clinical trials.

"I've operated on far too many people who have ruptured their Achilles tendon -- an injury that can be avoided," says Dr. Gregory Pomeroy, an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon at Portland Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Center, a department of Mercy Hospital.

Of all recurring medical disorders, addictive diseases -- like drug and alcohol addiction -- are the most prevelant.
