GARDINER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Gardiner fire captain, Dave Smith, fires up his take on a spinach pizza. It's a popular recipe in the department that can entice even those who aren't vegetable fans.
Ingredients (Enough for two 16 in. pizzas):
1 pint half & half or light cream
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp garlic powder or 1 tbls of fresh garlic (minced)
1 stick butter
1/8 teaspoon of black pepper
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 pkg frozen chopped spinach
Mix dry ingredients into half & half. Add butter and spinach and cook in the microwave 6-7 minutes (or until it thickens), stirring every minute.
Spread over pizza dough of your choice, or english muffins and add shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Cook at 450 degrees until cheese browns and dough is done.
