PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -  Smart home buyers are always trying to predict when the bottom of the real estate market will hit so they can swoop in and buy a great house at a steal.

Smart business owners are no different - many are trying to decide if this is the right time to take the plunge and buy or lease more space for expansion, while others are trying to figure out how to "unload" a vacant property they've been stuck with for some time.

Alan Hinsey, Host of Mainebiz Sunday, has been out speaking with Commercial Real Estate experts in Maine and found out that the bottom has passed and the market should be on the up and up.

He had some advice for business owners who may be considering their real estate options.

  Hinsey suggests:

Consider commercial vacancies as your friend

    Hold out for incentives

     "Deal" prices vs "asking" prices

     Capitalize on surprising opportunities

And coming up on Mainebiz Sundays for the month of February:more on the MEREDA Conference, LePage's new business policy team and demystifying fuel pricing.

You can catch Mainebiz every Sunday at 10 AM on WCSH6 and WLBZ2.
