(NEWS CENTER)-- Zoe Romano of Portland is running across the United States in an effort to raise $25,000 dollars for the Boys and Girls Club.
Romano's father Rick reports that the journey of two thousand miles has severely taxed the remarkable athletic abilities of his daughter.
Zoe is a recent Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Richmond. She returned to Portland to train and then flew to the west coast to start her odyssey.
Her run began in Huntington Beach, California and has taken her east two thousand miles. She runs twenty to twenty-five miles per day. Today she is expecting to cross the Mississippi River, an important mental and geographical milestone.
Romano is making her run alone. She is pushing sixty pounds of gear in a baby stroller and often camping at night.
She has visited more than one hundred cities along her route often being interview by newspapers and radio stations.
Her final destination is Charleston, South Carolina.
