PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A well known Maine business has a new owner.
David Barber announced today that his family has sold the business to an Ohio-based company, AdvancePierre Foods.
Barber Foods was started by Gus Barber back in 1955 and has been in the family since that time. The company's signature product is stuffed chicken breasts.
The chicken dishes now prepared at Barber's facilities in Portland will continue to be made there under the new owner.
Officials with AdvancePierre say the company will be investing millions of dollars in the Barber manufacturing facility in Portland. AdvancePierre also operates plants in Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina and Iowa.
