Augusta, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Governor LePage unveiled his Domestic Violence Legislative Agenda saying it's time to put politics aside.

Leaders on both sides of the aisle joined the Governor to pledge their support. One of the Governor's most vocal critics this session, House Minority Leader Emily Cain is sponsoring a bill that would change Maine's bail code where it relates to offenders in domestic violence cases. It's a bill the Governor ask her to sponsor on his behalf.

For Governor LePage, the issue of domestic violence hits very close to home. His heart wrenching story of growing up in abusive home is well known.

"It is because of my past that I am particularly passionate about this problem . It's important to me as a man to say enough is enough. I knew domestic violence when I was young and I still know this abusive behavior is hurting many Mainers today", he said.

The Governor signed an executive order calling for the formation of a task force. Members of that panel will explore ways to reduce domestic violence through technology, by tracking offenders better and providing electronic assistance to victims.
