We are kicking off a new generation of Fit at Five Biggest Loser Club members. Our new resident personal trainer Ben McCrillis from Train Maine will be helping us over the next couple month shed the unwanted weight. That's right...us. You can be a part of the club too! The hope is to create an online community through the comment section below. With the Fit at Five Biggest Loser club you can find motivation, inspiration, and a great place to share your success.

Before you jump into a workout routine Ben suggests to address the emotional piece. Why are we here? Why do we feel like we need to change? He then does functional movement screenings with his clients when they first come in. It's basically to see how you move, and see what your limitations are. Then he records the starting point. You can do this at home by recording your weight, and measurements. These are especially important to be able to look back a couple weeks from now and see how far you have come. Also fun...take a "before" picture!

BEN'S RULES FOR MONTH 1

Rule 1.-   EAT AND EAT OFTEN! (EVERY 2 - 3 HOURS) Eating frequently will allow you to maintain a high level of metabolism, and amp up your energy levels by stabilizing your insulin levels throughout the day. Not eating will eventually make you crash. Causing you to eventually over eat and tire. Killing your ability to stay energized not to mention kill your ability to burn calories at an optimal rate.

Rule 2. - Exercise EVERYDAY! This does not mean you have to be GI Jane. It just means you should do something physical or athletic daily! This helps you ensure you maintain a high level of efficient caloric expenditure. It's also important that you become very custom, and familiar to a constant schedule. Laps in consistency or disruptions in routine kills momentum! Momentum allows for constant progress which will motivate you - ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU START TO NOTICE REAL CHANGE.

Rule 3.- Ignore MYTHS. Listen to facts, and use science to answer your questions. Like buying a car for the first time. When you decide to lose weight you will become engorged with many suggestions as to what you should do, when to do them, what to avoid. Although they will most likely have good intentions they can confuse and sidetrack you. Remember, we have 1 goal, 1 plan, and 1 person that is important. All else comes second.

Rule 4. TRUTH AND REALITY! Realize that this is now a lifestyle. It's a process and a new program for your brain to accept as a permanent download! We only move forward and and we don't look back unless it's to motivate us by realizing how far we have come. It doesn't have to consume you. It's here to welcome you to a new you... a healthier you. This is a new you and your goals are totally within your reach.
