d. 45
Jordan was born on Feb. 17, 1963.
For most of his career, he wore the number 23 on his jersey. But the number was unavailable when he came back from his early retirement midway through the basketball season in 1995.
While he was gone from the NBA, Jordan tried his hand at minor league baseball. He played for the Birmingham Barons, a AA farm team for the Chicago White Sox. His batting average for the 1994 season was .202 with three home runs and 30 stolen bases.
Jordan wore the number 45 with the Barons. He continued wearing that number for a short time after returning to the NBA, but reverted to his original number the following season.
